| Peter Dorelli was born in Rome, Italy in 1940. He came to England in 1958 and worked in hotels around the country before eventually joining the Savoy Group in 1963. He began working for the company at Stones Chop House in London as Head Barman of the Pebble Bar where he stayed until 1980. He moved to the legendary American Bar of the Savoy Hotel as Assistant Head Barman, then becoming the 9th Head Barman/Bar Manager in 1984 where he remained until he retired in 2003 at the age of 63. He has been a member of the United Kingdom Bartenders Guild for over 30 years and was President from 1997-2004. He is currently Education Secretary and is heavily involved in running their training courses. He received the "Outstanding Contribution Award" at the CLASS Magazine Bar Awards Ceremony in 2003 and received the "Industry Personality of the Year Award" at the Flavour Magazine Bar Awards Ceremony the following year. Over the years he has given many cocktail demonstrations and has specially created cocktails for numerous film and book launches, Royal and other national occasions. He has organised cocktail competitions and acted as judge on many occasions in various countries. |
