His experiences in Jamaica, Canada, South Africa and Antigua have invested Tony with unrivalled knowledge of Rum's history, stretching back to its links with the British Empire and beyond. Tony's tutored tastings are renowned for the passion and colour they share with this warm and exotic spirit from the tropics.
For the last fifteen years Jake Burger has been at the forefront of the cocktail industry in Leeds. He worked at various bars and restaurants around the city during the nineties and then in 1999 was involved in the opening of 'Townhouse': a bar which re-defined the Leeds drinking experience and achieved national acclaim for its design, atmosphere and of course its cocktails. In September 2004 Jake opened his own bar: 'Jakes Bar and Grill'. "Jakes" quickly established itself as a favourite for the discerning customer and also as a home from home for the city's indefatigable bartenders. Since opening, Jakes has been nominated for and won awards both locally and nationally including Best New Bar at the Leeds Bar and Club Awards, Best Drinks Selection in the Theme Magazine Awards and, most recently, Best Night Out at the Class Magazine Bar Awards 2006, where they were also nominated for Best Drinks Selection and Best Bar. |
